About Us

What is FCSS?

The Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) program is a municipal-provincial partnership through which local people can develop services and perform activities to strengthen the family and community.

FCSS is one means by which local people can increase their sense of community. By assuming responsibility and working together, people can create the conditions that foster social and emotional well-being in their communities.

What is the FCSS Concept?

Programs developed under FCSS are to be a preventative measure and are designed to:

  • Enhance, strengthen, and stabilize family and community life;
  • Improve the ability of persons to identify and act on their own social needs;
  • Help divert family or community social breakdowns;
  • To provide for the development of programs on the basis of clearly identified needs and effective planning; and,
  • To encourage cooperation and coordination with allied service agencies operating within the community.

Operation of the Program

The local program operates under an agreement between the Town of Stettler and the County of Stettler. The program is administered by the FCSS Board consisting of representatives from the Town and County Councils and members at large.
