Senior's Week Lunch
Thank you to the seniors, town and county members that attended our Senior's lunch and Information Session. Please know you are appreciated in our community and we would not be where we are without you. Thank you to Stettler Society for the Prevention of Family Violence for teaching us more about preventing elder abuse.
A huge thank you to all the organizations that came to the Community Resource Fair! It was so great to reconnect with service providers and community members again! We look forward to more events like this in the future!
The Hot Dog Bar was a hit! Thank you StettlerLocal.com for sponsoring lunch for everyone!
As organizations we celebrate our volunteers everyday, as they are vital part of our community! Thank you to Lorraine Hankins at the Volunteer Centre for inviting FCSS to be a part of Volunteer Week, and the Jewel Theatre for partnering to host such a worthy event!
FCSS kicked off our first project for the Rural Mental Health grant!
Through a partnership with Heartland Youth Center , Big Brothers Big Sisters, Stettler Public Library and Wayne Paul, we have received funding to build six take one leave one libraries to place in Stettler, Botha, and Erskine. The Stettler Public Library will donate the “seed” books to stock the libraries. HYC, Big Brothers Big Sisters selected youth and mentors to work together to build and paint the libraries. Wayne Paul donated his time and expertise to assist youth and mentors in the building process.
We all enjoyed building these libraries together. It was great to see the smiling faces and sense of accomplishment after seeing our finished projects!
We are looking forward to launching these Rural Mental Health projects that will reconnect our community members and help raise mental health awareness.
