Stettler & District Food Bank

The Stettler & District Food Bank is a registered charity that is run and organized solely by Volunteers from the community in order to provide food to families in need. Receiving donations is a vital part of the food banks successful operations. 

Stettler Food Bank is located in the basement of the Stettler United Church, 4820 51 St.

Client Hours:

Tuesday & Thursday from 1:00pm to 3:00pm

and

Wednesday from 7:00pm to 8:00pm

FOOD BANK Announcement

Stettler & District Food Bank in Partnership with Stettler & District FCSS and Stettler & District Handi Bus will be offering “temporary” Food Bank hamper delivery starting April 21st.

 

If you have a health condition that puts you at risk to be out in public or are unable to get safe transportation to the food bank, arrangements can be made to deliver a food hamper to you.

 

Call FCSS at 403 742-2337 by 11:00am on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and a hamper will be delivered by volunteers to your doorstep during food bank hours. Monday and Thursday 1-3 and Wednesday evenings 7-8.

 

You will need to provide basic personal information when calling in to arrange delivery. The Food Bank volunteers are taking every precaution to ensure a safe and healthy environment in the preparation of hampers.

 

Please note that for those who are able, the Food Bank is still in operation during COVID-19 which is located at the Stettler United Church.

Donations: (Food Donations are not being accepted during COVID-19. Monetary donation can be made online at www.canadahelps.org or dropped off at FCSS.  Thank you for your continued support)

If you have a donation there is a drop box in the front lobby of the church, the doors are open from 9:00 am to Noon, Monday - Friday except holidays.

We accept donations of:

  • Non-perishable food items

  • Toiletries

  • Grocery Store Gift Cards

  • Cash ~ Tax receipts are issued for any donations of $10.00 or more.  Cash donations can be left at the United Church Office (please make sure it is clearly marked "Food Bank) or online at www.canadahelps.org.

***WE CANNOT accept:  Home canning, eggs and wild or uninspected meats.***

Stettler Food Bank is always in need of volunteers, and there are many areas you can volunteer in, please contact Betty Birch at 403-742-0732 or fill in the contact form at stettlerunitedchurch.org and she will get back to you.

Guidelines for Clients:

  • Remember that this is a volunteer operation and everyone is doing their very best.

  • The church lends the space but is not in charge of the food bank.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.        How many times can I access the food bank?

Households with children can access the food bank twice a month two weeks apart, while singles or couples can visit once a month.
           

2.        What do I need to bring in order to apply for the food bank?

Each applicant must bring in photo identification for every member of the household and AB Health Care cards for any children.
